Biotech et R&D Universe
The various organisms that constitute coral reef ecosystems have evolved in an exceptional environment in which they have learned to adapt over thousands of years. They have thus had time to set up various strategies of response and adaptation to their immediate environment. These strategies are often expressed by the expression of molecules with exceptional properties: fluorescence, bioluminescence, various catalytic enzymes, etc… These products can be used for biotechnological applications for medical purposes (biomarkers) or for uses in green chemistry (biocatalysis).
Fundamental research is not left out since the genetic sequences of our database provide us with the possibility of expressing and purifying numerous proteins that can enrich our knowledge of organisms from these particular ecosystems.
