The ambitious initiative led by the Monaco Scientific Center and many other institutes around the world to collect, catalogue and share material and precise information on the vast majority of the world’s corals is both a major scientific challenge and a hope to conserve a significant part of humanity’s living heritage. Coral reefs contain 25% of the biodiversity of the oceans, making them the richest ecosystems in the marine world. Global warming, pollution and other aggravating factors threaten these unique environments, the result of millions of years of evolution, in the short term. Coraliotech joins this great initiative to discover and enhance the hidden potential of these exceptional and still little explored organisms, with the aim of proposing in the coming years many innovative products for the well-being and human health.
